Bécquer is the Spanish Heine, not as great, but as widely loved and read.

The Dark Swallows will Return is his most famous poem and the opening verse has become proverbial:

Volverán las oscuras golondrinas

The dark swallows will return and again hang their nests on your balcony and strike your window with their wings.
But those that slowed their flight to see your beauty, and those that learnt your name and mine, those won’t return

Unlike the great paintings, most landscape photos are evocative only to those who have been there.

I live in a more or less industrial little town, and yet this photo was taken near home. Missing are the heat, the silence, the sense of space and the swallows.
