The violin solo  from  Puccini’s Tosca  was a perfect fit, since the acoustics of those large rinks make a mess of orchestra music, but that version is no longer available.

Now there was a blue spotlight racing after him like a butterfly net

.

trying to catch the butterfly,

.

.

and almost got him:

.

but he escaped

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

.

Yet here he is, more static, watching results or maybe his trainer’s video at his rink back home in Russia:

… …

.

and here again looking like some Ivan the Terrible in an Eisenstein film:

… …

.

.

Winamp has a good portrait shot of him on one of their skins:

The video of Plushenko dancing to “Tosca” is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ieMEfklmuI

The commentators can’t do any better than repeating  “there is a passion about him”.  They ought to know that there is passion in lots of places and mostly redundant.

This is not from La Bohème as you say, but from La Tosca.
