The blog was originally called “Let the fish sing” because of a famous poem by Morgenstern called Night Song of the Fish:

.

But this seemed to come with an echo of New Age, and so it had to be shortened  to Fishing — which I  don’t like at all.

I might change to Rides or Waves or River since this blog is about the way things change in art and in war and in the sciences and in translation, everywhere.

I do have a good idea for a new title, but have not yet had the guts to implement it, since one tends to imagine that such a change would inconvenience half of WordPress and all of the Internet.

And what if I wanted to change again?!

As to the painting,  I happen to know that the author is American, and this lake would be somewhere in the Northern US.

The painting isn’t signed, but it had been framed and the frame was dated 1992.

Anyway, the original header included a picture which I like even better, but could not reduce to a thumbnail without turning its glorious lines  into a scribble:

On the whole, I don’t think this header is as nice as that of my other blog at
http://cantueso.wordpress.com/
which is mainly in Spanish, though my Spanish is no good:
