Why Socrates? April 10, 2013

It seems that most of those who read this blog are more or less agnostic. They would reject the idea of life after death.

Socrates stands for the opposite idea.

Most of those readers would believe that the physical reality is all there is, and that “the rest”  is culture or superstition, colourful, socially influential, but not “real”.

Socrates stands for the opposite idea.

So why does Socrates get all the hits?

Why do they like him?

Is it because of his most upright stance in the face of death? Or are they  attracted by the idea of obeying the law, any law, even law made by crooked means?

The ultimate irony is that Socrates never wrote anything himself.
