The McCain jokes are not funny. Here are two:

Obama was asked whether Clinton had been the first black president and he answered :
“I would have to investigate Bill’s dancing abilities and some of this other stuff before I can accurately judge whether President Clinton was, in fact, a brother…..”
illustrating Obama’s ease, elegance, and realism in dealing with the problem of race.

.
This was all over the net so that it was no longer possible to find its original author. Whoever it was, he must have been a great inventor and a poet:
A Christian, a Jew, and Obama were in a boat fishing on the lake, and Obama said: “This joke won’t work, because there is no Muslim on board.”

November 09, 2008
Bush says that Obama visiting him at the White House is going to be “a stirring sight”.
illustrating both Bush’s light “mission accomplished” ways and his clumsy language

Obama meeting the dictators :
He is on good terms with all the bad people
…………………………………………………………………………………………..
.
This is not intelligible to almost anybody outside the US because on TV we would never, ever hear of that part of the US that you call “the Bible belt”.
The great drawing summarizes a very long story, and the divide is all over the world.
Added May 15, 2010 : I didn’t know that the above cartoon is based on a painting by Norman Rockwell “Saying Grace”:

Obama’s Bankers
Both the wars and the banking nonsense can be seen as part of Bush’s scary dollar inflation accelerated by Obama:
The visible part of the Xmas list includes
money
cash
lolly
moolah
dosh
pelt
lucre
loot
boodle.
This would be British. — According to my little online thesaurus, in American English it is
cabbage
clams
lettuce
loot
scratch
wampum
haul
lift
plunder
squeeze
The drawing is by Nick Newman and is from http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/cartoon/ no longer open ex ept to subscribers

Obama’s Wars
Obama gives a great speech and the man in the cave says: “If he keeps talking that good, I think I go there and surrender.” — The goat at the cave entrance seems surprised. –

Obama’s Human Rights Performance

This drawing and the one below are by Steve Bell at http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cartoon/2011/apr/27/steve-bell-guantanamo-files.
The drawing represents the US Guantánamo premises with the chicken wire, the flag, and the officers saluting on the arrival of a new and very distinguished prisoner.

Bin Laden is Dead

The announcement causes joy in USA and bewilderment abroad, conceivably because of its fake relevance.
Cartoonists seem to have a more solid understanding of the world than e.g journalists or politicians. This could be because, with a smaller + very friendly audience, they get used to looking for truth rather than applause.

Clint Eastwood Addresses the Chair
Clint Eastwood improvised a parody of a simple elderly man who tries to ask President Obama some tough questions.
He imitated that man’s searching, hesitant, painful talk to accuse Obama and say:
You did not close Gitmo
You brought on more war
You are leaving 20 million people unemployed.
It was a stellar performance, and Obama himself rather typically said so.
It was very great.

Of course, many people resented Clintwood’s stealing the show from Romney.
In the past all actors knew how to improvise, and even Shakespeare had a hard time telling them to respect the script, for they all tried to put in their own lines.
In A Midsummer Night’s Dream you can see a group of actors improvising their parts and inventing off the cuff, just as Eastwood did and as is also done in jazz concerts.

Thanks for linking to this amusing site cantueso. It’s making me laugh a lot! The page uses some little Java thingie to cycle through the one-liners. They have a wonderful ordinariness, all those nice tings Obama did for me! The site’s author put this greeting into his code:
P.S. I don’t hate Hillary. But I didn’t vote for her either.
………………………………………………………………………….
It is wonderful. It is not mean, either, since it targets his audience, the IMHO crowds. He has excellent support, though, and I wouldn’t worry either way. The latest addition is
. I did not know that in the code there would be information about the author.
While Obama has all the glamor, John McCain is quietly moving along. America is a more conservative than one would think. Hillary actually will have a better shot of winning the presidency than Obama.
Hmm, all the polls I’ve seen say Obama has the best shot at beating McCain.
To leafless and -30-:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html
According to these polls, Obama beats McCain. This also explains why there is so much friendly talk about Hillary at Fox News. And the IHT called it “the Billary way to a Republican presidency”.
However, I saw a Republican commentator laugh at the situation saying the Democrats were typically trying to sell two liberal candidates when the whole country was center right.
And I wonder whether Obama does not in fact ride on a wave of rightist non-political support of New Age orientation.
Obama jokes? If you want cartoons, check Slate, http://cartoonbox.slate.com/static/114.html
They have tons of cartoons up, sorted by subject.
I think you have a good point that it is impossible to find out why people hate Hillary. Writerchick is correct that there are all kinds of statements on the web, but they are largely expressions of hatred for Hillary, not explanations of why. Some people say she is a liar, but other than the blooper about Bosnia, they are hard pressed to find any serious lies. They engage in ad hominem attacks that really say nothing about why, only that they do hate her.
Well, yes. Obama is much the nicer guy, but let’s have Hillary for president. Anybody can see that she is the better choice, as almost anybody would see if instead of a US president they had to choose somebody to look after their business.
.
I know why my Dad and a number of people hate Hillary. It is because they feel she is dishonest. It comes from the Arkansas land deal, which they did not believe at all her “side” of the story.
There is a faint giggle now starting up in the press as more and more people realize that the Palin spoof won’t work. What kind of friends or advisers does McCain have? If he cannot come up with better people than that, I don’t know what he has been doing in Washington for 20 years.
I don’t think you can vote for Obama if you are a Catholic. The bishops made that quite clear, at least in the US.
No, they didn’t. They did NOT make this quite clear.
However, the moment McCain brought in this goose, things became quite clear — and without the help of the bishops.
There are jokes that improve with age.
I do not think President Obama ever has remembered my Birthday, but I always have remembered his Birthday, even when he was senator of Illinois, I had Obama,
on my space for years, before Facebook, and Twitter.
I always would send him, a Happy Birthday greeting,
every August 4, and Michelle, would post on my profile, thank you for remembering his Birthday.
I believe that is correct his Birthday is
August 4, so he would be a Leo, he is a strong
lion leading a army in the kingdom of our Lord.
My Birthday follows his a Virgo, September 14.
I must find Michell’s Birthday, and the kids.
How did you hear about Obama so early? I live in Spain and so am not connected to any US grapevine, but first read about him in William Pfaff’s website. Pfaff used to be an important contributor to the NYT or the IHT.
He strongly recommended Obama starting about one year before the elections.
