Winston Churchill called it “a miracle of deliverance”, and all across Europe a glimmer of hope lit up.

A, I’m sorry and I know it’s not polite to contradict but there a few samll inexact data: end of the WWI – nov. 1918; Hitler comes to power as Reichcancellar in 1933 not in 1935. (Professional deformation of the ex- history teacher; sorry again…)
Thank you for the corrections. I will check my sources and correct later.
Of course I consider corrections very polite, first of all towards other readers. How otherwise would I find out something is wrong?
I think you should mention the Blitz invasion of the Low Countries and the fall of France, because of its impact on world opinion. I realize that you try to keep the timeline as short as possible, but you did mention how the Germans overran Czechoslovakia and Poland.

You are right. France had been included in a former version and then got omitted by accident, when I was trying to figure out what is meant by “the Low Countries”. I do have a book with historical maps, but forgot to have a look.
Why don’t you mention Poland where the Russians double-crossed the Germans and the Poles?
Because I don’t know this story very well and it is too complicated for this post
Excellent idea for a post.
