Aranjuez a Summer Day April 29, 2009

This post is from summer last year. It had to be republished because all of its pictures at Google were linked to “Famous buildings”.

There are flowers along all the roads and even along the great new highways so festive that some drivers think they had gardeners doing the 400 miles of autostrada between Madrid and Barcelona to welcome the tourists from all over.
Poppies looking at their own shadow. It must be a very lonely road. Not even a sheep or a goat was there, for it would have eaten the poppy.

Mother and daughter are out for a walk, maybe going to the brand-new swimming pool. It is 33º C, that is more than 90º F. If this heat wave stays any longer, all the flowers will be gone in no time. What are they talking about ? Though you see her only from the back, you can almost hear her talk and see her smile.

Aranjuez used to be the royal spring residence, and you can still see that in its architecture and gardens. The photos of the royal palace are one from Wikipedia and one from a travel office (reference lost). King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia do not live in this palace. It is open to tourists.

You’d never believe, this long corridor with those beautiful arches : it’s the tax authorities’ offices . And once you are inside and they make you wait a little, this is what you see from the window:
The sky wasn’t photogenic that day, and you almost could not see the swallows, hundreds of swallows in daily practice getting ready for their transmediterranean July flight back home.

El concierto de Aranjuez by el Maestro Rodrigo :
It is a MIDI file, only 29 KB, pretty, though in this version the guitar is not as clear as water, but more like vanilla ice cream and melting.
Added April 2009:
A Youtube guitar version of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez played by a Japanese girl:

This could be anywhere in Spain now, any afternoon. These men look as if they worked for a bank or an insurance company. Yet many of them would own some land and olive trees back home in the pueblo where their parents came from.

Aranjuez is on the Tajo river:
Below is another picture of the palace:

Oh, what a lovely little post cantueso! Thank you. You took these photos, no? And that piece of music is so beautiful. I let it play as I looked at the poppies and the girls walking up the street.
That’s so funny about that building with the arches! You can feel the vacuum of that long corridor sucking the money out of your pockets!
No, I did not take the photos. The architecture, the park, the men playing cards are from the net, and the others were taken by an American friend of mine. I am sure he would take great pictures of people in the street, but he is much too polite even to take them from the back, except at a distance.
Of course he believes that people sense it if you look at them, and dogs do, too.

This post got accidentally deleted, and so I put it back up. This is why, as you might notice, your comment and mine seem to be a few weeks older than the post.
I like this post so much; really beautiful and sensitive! and the music chosen-is simply therapeutic.Thank you!

To Raul:
I also like it, but I did not make the photos, and I don’t know what is so special about them. Anyway, it is incredibly nice that the photos are also successful with people who have never seen olive groves
Кульная вещь!!!
Could you explain again why your tax authorities reside in such an expensive building? I know you told me once or tried, but I must not have understood properly, because again I thought it was shocking to see such luxury displayed like that.
It is the only way to maintain these buildings ! There are many. Until recently Aranjuez was all run down, with poppies growing on the marble steps of old villas and also on some roofs. Now they have been fixing it up.
Can’t get to this post. What’s wrong with it? I googled and got Napoleon’s Hat first and then the Famous Buildings.
I know. It happens from time to time that all kinds of links all point to the same post. Yesterday there were about 50 hits for the “Famous Buildings”.
Look at http://tinyurl.com/dbbqvv and see all the Aranjuez links are wrong.
Дизайн у Вас интересный, я вот тоже для блога искал – стала прикручивать, а все посты куда то делись. Эээх… буду писать заново
